Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder that affects how someone interacts, communicates and perceives the world around them.

Autism can be diagnosed any time from childhood through to adulthood because it is a lifelong condition. The NHS offer a free diagnosis but waiting lists can be long.

Ami is trained to carry out the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule 2nd Edition (ADOS-2). The ADOS-2 is one tool in a multi-disciplinary diagnostic assessment of ASD. Autism should never be diagnosed by a single person or without robust assessment. Ami works together with a Clinical Psychologist, who is very experienced in diagnosing Autism, to offer a holistic and thorough assessment process which will usually include a school/ college/ work observation, an in-depth questionnaire and an ADOS-2.

The Clinical Psychologist also offers an initial consultation to be sure that it is an Autism assessment that you or your child need.

At Amica – Speech, Language & Communication Consultancy, we offer a range of evidence based therapeutic approaches for children, young people and adults with Autism.
